Thursday August 15, 2013  -Opening Reception for artworks by Meichen Waxer Alcor + Mizar @ Milk Glass Co. Transformation is the result of a decisive moment, across culture and history – myths of people, creatures and the stars have taught us this. Through an investigation of pan-cultural mythology, astronomy and proto-scientific practices, Meichen Waxer enters into these moments. Enchanted by ideas of power and transformation, Waxer draws from lore of potent women who are faced with external forces of mediation

and control. Alcor + Mizar presents a series of large scale ink and oil works, conflating stark graphic imagery, abstracted forms and ornate floral patterns. Waxer creates uncanny relationships that invite you to reflect on these universal yet deeply personal narratives. Milk Glass Co.
