Halloween in Queer Toronto 2013

Halloween events in queer Toronto from October 11 to Saturday November 2, 2013.

Outexpressions is a different Queer Media Publication. Besides our daily listings; twice a year, New Years and Halloween; we round up the best events (well balanced with parties and cultural things and not just gay bars), from the city’s queer culture scene and update our listings daily. Note on meaning of Queer in listings: Mixed crowd, not everyone is gay or lesbian. A safe space where everyone is welcome, in the places we list.

Thursday October 17 to Wednesday October 30, 2013  - Halloween - Tour Killjoy's Kastle: A Lesbian Feminist Haunted House (Brockton Village) This Hallowe’en Toronto artist Allyson Mitchell reclaims this hellish scenario with her crowd-sourced, lesbian-feminist, queer-fear-fighting and reinforcing Kill Joy’s Kastle: A Lesbian Feminist Haunted House. Wrapping this American Gothic Hell House tradition with yard upon illustrated, elaborately decorated yard of spirited craft aesthetic, Mitchell mobilizes her “deep lez” commitment to radical queer world-making potential. Through it, she conjures new kinds of representations of feminist sexuality and queer concepts of community and activism.

For one night only, get down on riot ghouls and polyamorous radical vampiric grannies while channeling your inner consciousness hell-raiser. Sit down and process with real celebrity feminist lesbian killjoys: Ann Cvetkovich, Sarah Schulman, Ann Pelligrini and more. Over 25 live performances, rock bands, video projections and much more fun too frightening to reveal…just yet.
