Toronto Queer Film Festival Submission 2015

Submit your film for Toronto Queer West Film Festival  August 2015…Deadline March 1st, 2015.

Foot Note: Some Directors on low budgets are sending us Online Submissions for approval, before sending DVD NTSC Region 1 format in the mail (Youtube, Vimeo etc.) We do accept this method, if its more convenient for you and speeds your entry up.

   Couple of minor points, when submitting

  1. Works submitted in languages other than English,  must be subtitled in English. English Language films should have caption capabilities for a Deaf audience, this request is not written in stone. Please let us know if not possible,it won’t effect your entry in any way.
  2. When submitting your film, please include in your cover letter whether it is considered Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or a combination thereof.
  3. DVD NTSC Region 1 format
  4. No Fee to entry your  submission.
  5. We are a low budget NPO  yet a quality film festival. we can not afford Screening Fees.  Please let us know if there is a screening fee? Many large commercial studios bury this information,  wasting our time, when sending press release and sales pitches for their possible entry.
  6.  Toronto Queer Arts Festival and Queer West Film Festival is not associated with the Toronto political group,
    Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (QuAIA). We welcome LGBTQ films from All Countries
  7. Submission Deadline – March 1st, 2015. This allows final selection overseas director 4 weeks to get their DVD’s to us, One nudge letter will be sent at end of March.  If the film doesn’t arrive for some reason, a runner up will be chosen.
  8. A confirmation letter will sent that we received your entry.  You will receive a letter when final selection made and confirmation letter that your DVD arrived safely in Toronto.  Film listings begin in April 2015

 What we are looking for

We invite film or artwork submissions from emerging and established international filmmakers and artist including Canada. Works should address queerness/queer issues: films and artworks themes might include but are not limited to:
• Embodiment and queer subjectivity
• Human interest stories
• Queerness, technology and public/private spheres
• Race, ability, and class and the politics of Queerness
• Intersectional dimensions of queerness
• Visibility and invisibility issues
• Alliances and tensions between feminist and queer communities
• GLBTQ media
• Queer representation
• Queer activism
• Navigating queer relationships
• Trans representation
• Reconfiguring the nuclear family
• Drag shows, clubbing and forging alliances
All films and artworks must be complete at the time of submission. No in-progress work will be accepted.

It’s very important to us, to have the Director’s  detailed Biography and the Film Description.  Give us Where were you born, your age, your education, more human interest, that will make the audience sit-up and show an interest in artistic work and want to see it. We strongly advise Premier showing in North America or Canada

Where to send your film

We have an outside Mailbox  at our house. Do not send by courier,  there is no one to sign for it.

The best method is send  your film in 6×8 bubble package  General  postal mail. Mark Custom Sticker; for festival preview only, no commercial value or you may be required to pay customs duties. (Queer West will be charged customs fees or fedex fees, which we will not pay or pickup at a Fedex Office if undeliverable).
