Saturday July 6, 2013 – Toronto Queer Slow Dance Beach Blanket edition @ Dovercourt House. It’s hot outside! And so are you! So wear as little as you want! With a lending library of designated dancers for all you wallflowers, and a dancecard-booklet to set up dances in advance (should you choose to), Queer Slowdance Night has all slow songs, all night long! (Except for the occasional intermission when we play the fastest songs we can find!)
It’s high school with a happy ending. Come and experience why slow is beautiful, and why love is not ironic. PS. Fabulous and inspired attire, while desired, is not required. But would be AWESOME & HAWT. Music by Matt Gerber is an Alt/Contemporary/Canadian Singer Songwriter. Based out of Toronto, Canada, Matt has enjoyed writing and performing his own (often quirky) style of music. If you manage to attend one of his shows, you may find him behind either a guitar, a ukulele, a mandolin, a tenor banjo, a bodhran or even a didgeridoo. Quite often he will provide his own accompaniment in the form of harmonica or kazoo! Saturday July 27, 2013 – Open Reception of acrylic paintings by Toronto gay artist Philip Cairns @ Arcadia Art Gallery. The work consists of acrylic on paper and acrylic on wood abstracts and landscapes.
“My work these days is all about colour, layer upon layer of thin colour, which makes them very rich and intense. They look very simple but, in fact, the work is very meticulous and complex. Some of the paintings in this exhibition are totally abstract while other works are Expressionistic landscapes.” Said Cairns.
