Triggerfish Water Polo Fall season begins @ U of T Athletics Centre The Toronto Triggerfish are a group of men and women who come together to learn and play the exciting and demanding sport of water polo. The idea is to host short, semi-structured series of group sessions to discuss topics in theory and philosophy. Each series is designed and led by someone with formal academic training (doctoral level); the format is somewhere between a seminar and an informal reading group. The instructor for the October series is Niomi Cherney! Niomi Anna Cherney is a mover, maker and thinker. In her practice she seeks to create a third person window into perceptual experience by setting up heightened conditions for seeing, sensing and recording. Sunday October 5, 2014 - Homegrown Park Crawl @ Christie Pits. The David Suzuki Foundation hosts the second annual Homegrown Park Crawl. This year's event will feature food from more than a dozen of Toronto's top chefs and restaurants, including Pizzeria Libretto, FRANK Restaurant, Marben, Ursa and The County General. Participants will sample tasty treats while they flow — by foot, bike and portaged canoe — from park to park alongside adventurous local musical acts, including the jazzy six-piece Heavyweights Brass Band, afro-Brazilian stilt-drumming troupe MaracaTall and 16-member "percussion posse" Samba Squad http://sambasquad.com/. Saturday October 25, 2014 - 15th Annual NIGHT OF DREAD @ Dufferin Grove Park. Join Clay & Paper Theatre on Saturday October 25 for the 15th annual NIGHT OF DREAD, when we will parade our private and collective fears through the darkened streets of Toronto. NIGHT OF DREAD is an unforgettable evening of pageantry, music and masquerade, towering puppets, stilt dancers, fire-spinners and fearful masks. Saturday October 25, 2014 - All ages Toronto Zombie Walk Once a year, the undead take over the streets of downtown in the Toronto Zombie Walk. This year, the Toronto Zombie Walk will include a Halloween Parade, with marching bands, floats and more. Now in it’s tenth year, the group has been growing steadily with over 8,000 corpses taking part in last year’s walk. Starting in Nathan Phillips Square, the walk will weave a path along the streets where bloody participants can practice their best moans for “braaaaaains.” The walk itself begins at 3 p.m., but festivities start at noon including a zombie photo booth, prize giveaways, a blood booth to help put the finishing touches on your costume, an opening ceremony and a performance from Creepshow. The walk will start at Nathan Phillips Square, before heading north on Bay St. to Grenville, then east to Yonge St. and back south past the Eaton Centre to Queen St., ending back at Nathan Phillips Square. http://torontozombiewalk.ca/
