2007 season opens for Gay West Bicycle Club

Gay West Bicycle Club is the only gay, lesbian and bisexual dedicated bicycling club in the province of Ontario. Now entering it's fourth year in 2007 with close to 100 registered members.

Wednesday March 21, 2007, excerpt from Bike Club Newsletter. I wanted to touch base briefly to let you know we’re busy planning this year’s upcoming bike rides. We’re nearing the 100 mark of confirmed members who have participated in one of our rides, since I took over two years ago. Again, this year we will be organizing one ride a month from April to October, and as always we encourage members to offer suggestions and take the lead in planning rides.

Details of the first ride are below, so now’s the time to get both yourself and your bike in shape. Whether you’re an avid commuting cyclist, an off-road warrior, or a Sunday rider, our group is a mix of all. Meeting others in a casual environment is as much a part of the ride, as is the actual ride.

"First ride for 2007 season takes place on Sunday April 29-Noon until 3PM" Dunn said.

We start off at Sunnyside Pavilion then make our way up the Humber River to just south of Lawrence Ave, where the Hurricane Hazel monument is located. For those who don’t know what Hurricane Hazel was, surf over to http://www.hurricanehazel.ca/.

We then make our way west along the Eglinton Ave bike path, south along the bike lanes of Royal York Avenue in Etobicoke, through the ever so posh Kingsway Village area, then back east via several side streets. We’ll then gather for an après-ride mix and mingle somewhere in the west end of the city.

Hope to see you all again on one of the upcoming rides, and feel free to forward this on to others who might be interested. Stay tuned for details on our Annual Toronto Pride Ride happening on Sunday June 17th. Out of town visitors are welcome to join any of the club meets. Please RSVP to gwbikeclub@gmail.com if you will be attending.
