Sunday March 20 and Thursday, March 24 - Reading of New Play “Unravelled: A Queer Pastiche on Homonationalism” by Jamie Ebbs @ Tarragon Theatre.

Jamie studies Devised Theatre at York University, now in his fourth year and periodically dabbles in playwriting when the impulse beckons. On Sat February 19th he held an all day drama workshop for the Queer West Arts Centre's youth program

"Point of departure came from an impulse (or desire rather) to write a play, which allegorized the acceptance of homosexuality into western mainstream as a means of furthering normative interests. Retaining this impulse at the narrative crux, the piece evolved organically, expanding the thematic scope to encompass all forms of “otherness” and isolation. My objective, therefore, became to present an affected version of conservative domesticity from a general marginalized perspective. The effect is a dense otherworldliness, where events escalate at the drop of a hat, and exaggerated creatures spew hyper-poetic jargon (ostensibly what an outsider sees, as they peer into normativity)." Ebbs said
