A saucy puppet-themed cabaret to raise funds for a new play from Adam Francis Proulx and Kira Hall. Featuring some of TO's top puppeteers! Thursday March 3 and Fri March 5, 2016 - Gaetano Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, performed by the Toronto City Opera @ Bickford Centre. The Toronto City Opera will perform L’Elisir d’Amore on Feb. 26, March 3, and March 5 at 7:30 p.m., and Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. It’s the only amateur company in Toronto that stages a full costumed opera, so it’s an opportunity for singers who want to perform for a living to get some experience. This year's theme is "Slaying the '20s". Inspired by 1920s fashion and decor, this ball mixes the style of the '20s with the glam, glitz, and music of today's most popular divas. Come dressed in your own interpretation of 1920s fashion and be sure to add some glitter to the mix ;) . The dance will be held at Hart House in the East Common Room. Friday March 25, 2016 - 54th annual Good Friday Way of the Cross Procession @ Little Italy (Toronto) Italians love a parades, especially if its religious, with the bands playing one sombre song after another, spectators will talk sotto voce and some will fingered rosary beads. A ton of work goes into the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church at the corner of Grace St. and Mansfield Ave. A popular Good Friday procession every year and March 25th will be no different. Thousands will lined the streets of Little Italy to watch parishioners garbed as Jesus, Roman soldiers and disciples with banners that tell the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and the events leading up to it. Last year there was 2,000 participants within the procession and crowds of about 200,000 lining Little Italy streets. The Parade begins at 3PM at St. Francis Church (72 Mansfield Ave) The procession slowly winds its way South on Grace, then West on Dundas, then North on Montrose Ave to College St., and East to Manning Ave and back to the Church.
